Students whose native language is not English become prepared for
college-level learning through our program. ESL classes are taught
in English within a setting which will be similar to students' future
learning environment.
Dana's language requirement for graduation will
be met upon completion of this program and a TOEFL score of 500
or above.
Dana College has provided an ESL program since 1984.
A well-developed
support system is in place for ESL students. Other benefits include:

What are the entrance
requirements for ESL?
- A minimum TOEFL score of 460
- A recommended 4-6 years of previous
English language study
- A recommendation from principal or secondary
school counselor
- An official academic credentials from secondary
school
What are the study requirements for ESL?
- Full-time for a minimum
of one semester (12 credits);
- Four 3-credit courses with daily class
sessions in reading, writing, listening and grammar;
- Completion
standards will include minimum TOEFL sub-scores, successful
completion of courses for credit, and written
and spoken components to final exams
What are the costs for the ESL program
at Dana?
- Tuition for a typical student is $8,425 per semester.
- Room and board
for the average student (with a silver meal plan) is $2,470
per semester.
