Art

Lights are on in the art studios at Dana College late into the night as students find an opportunity to work and hone their individual creative skills. Friendships and a cup of coffee provide a casual atmosphere to learn and produce quality works of art.

Art, Art Education and Graphic Design majors take a variety of studio courses in ceramics, drawing, design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture and specific courses in graphic design.

Many of Dana's art students further take advantage of our overseas study program during the January three-week Discovery Term and tour European cities rich in art history.

Student artwork is constantly exhibited the Thompson Gallery and annually exhibited in regional art exhibits and competitions.  Dana's student artwork has been acknowledged throughout the region as being of significant quality.

Housed in the brightly-lit, industrially-sleek wing of the Madsen Fine Arts Center, students find a well-equipped art facility.  Students have 24-hour access to studios. Private studio areas are available for painting. Equipment such as computers, potter’s wheels, and photo enlargers are at a ratio of no more than two students to a piece of equipment per semester, allowing students nearly unlimited access to equipment needed for creative pursuits. Dana provides one of the few bronze casting facilities in the area for student use.

If you want to go to a small school and yet have easy access and quality experiences in the most vibrant art community between Chicago and Denver, then Dana College is the place for you to study art.
