Dana College encourages its students to enrich their undergraduate
programs and to expand their visions of the world by studying and
traveling in other countries. Students may spend a Discovery Term,
summer, semester, or full academic year abroad.
Study abroad is recommended for upperclassmen, preferably juniors.
In order to qualify, students must be socially mature, have an overall
grade point average of 3.0 or above, and have the equivalent of at
least one year of a modern foreign language. In addition, they must
be recommended by their major advisors and the Registrar. The Chair
of the Language Department has information on both academic and work/travel
abroad programs to assist students in selecting appropriate programs.
Cooperative agreements include, but are not limited to: the University
of Aalborg in Aalborg, Denmark; the Center for Global Education at
Augsburg College for study in Mexico and Central America; the Goethe
Institute for study in Germany; and Belgrano University in Buenos
Aires, Argentina, for student exchanges.
Students wishing to participate in a program that does not require
language knowledge may consider the Danish International Study Program
(DIS). DIS is affiliated with the University of Copenhagen, and offers
courses taught in English on such subjects as history, politics,
environmental studies, literature, education, economics, fine arts
and sociology.
