Athletes of the Week

The Dana College Sports Information Office and Viking Leadership Council are proud to announce Derek Hoffman (FR, Edgar, NE) as the athlete of the week. 

Derek Hoffman – Indoor Track 

Hoffman broke the 56 year old indoor pole vault record in his first collegiate track meet.  He would complete a vault of 12 feet 6 inches to set the new Viking mark.  The previous mark of 11 feet was set in 1952 by Ole Ahlquist.  His height was good enough for a fifth place finish at the Ward Haylett Invitational in Crete, Nebraska.
