DANA CONCERT BAND TO OFFER WINTER CONCERT, APRIL 4
Program features selections
from Copland, Sousa and more
The Dana College Concert Band will present its winter concert at
3 p.m. on April 4 in the Lauritzen Theater of the Madsen Fine Arts
Center on the college’s campus in Blair, Neb. Admission is
free and the public is warmly invited to attend.
The program for the concert includes “Psalm 46,” by
John Zdechlik, “Two Chorale Preludes,” by William Latham, “English
Folk Song Suite,” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “A Copland
Tribute,” by Aaron Copland/Clare Grundman, “Washington
Post,” by John Philip Sousa and “Cajun Folk Songs,” by
Frank Ticheli.
The Dana College Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. William
Hall, is the primary instrumental ensemble at Dana College. It’s
also a place to shine. From the first concert of their freshman year,
performers are allowed to take the lead and show their stuff. No
seniority issues or class restrictions are put in students’ way.
At Dana, being in the Concert Band is about the music. Whether students
want to be symphony performers, doctors, teachers or restaurateurs,
Dana College Concert Band will provides them with the chance to enjoy
music and make lifelong friends.
