Three Vikings Named to All-Conference Team

 

Blair, Nebraska ~ The 2008 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball All-Conference team has been announced after a vote of league coaches.  This year’s GPAC All-Conference Team consists of three Vikings who were selected to the Honorable Mention team.

 

Named to the Honorable Mention team were Andrew James (FR, Omaha, NE), Taylor Hoskinson (FR, Omaha, NE), and Quentin Connealy (SR, Tekamah, NE).

 

Connealy, a third baseman, was one of two Viking senior starters this season.  He started 40 games this season and had a batting average of .322 with a home run, 20 runs batted in, and four stolen bases.  James, a catcher, was one of four freshmen starters on this year’s Dana team.  He started 39 games this year with a .326 batting average and had 20 RBI’s.  James was second on the team with 12 doubles and led the Vikings with ten stolen bases.  Hoskinson, an outfielder, batted lead-off most of the season for Coach Misfeldt’s young squad.  He started all 41 games and was the Vikings leading hitter with a .339 average and walked 22 times.

The Vikings finished their season at 10-31 overall and 6-18 in conference.  Viking baseball Coach Ken Misfeldt is in his second year at the helm of the Viking baseball program.  Dana College is a private, Lutheran college located in Blair, Nebraska.  They participate in the Great Plaines Athletic Conference and a member of the NAIA.  Dana College is a place where all students actively participate.
