Dana
Splits with DWU
Blair, Nebraska ~ Viking baseball
split a pair of games at home Sunday afternoon with Dakota Wesleyan.
Dana rallied from a 3-2 deficit in game one to win 4-3 in eight
innings. The Vikings tied game two at 7-7 in the fourth inning, but
lost 11-8.
In the opener, Dana claimed an early 2-0 lead
before DWU put up three runs in the top of the fifth inning. The
Vikings scratched out single runs in the bottom of the seventh and again in
the eight to claim the win. Freshman Cody Falk (Arlington, NE)
was the hero of the game with a one-out single to score Quentin
Connealy (SR, Tekamah, NE). Austin Lunn (FR, Omaha, NE) was
three for three at the plate with two doubles. Andrew James (FR,
Omaha, NE) and Falk had two hits apiece. Alex Johnson (FR, Red
Oak, IA) drove in two runs. Anthony Teal (JR, Omaha, NE) picked
up the win in relief. John Ocken (FR, Omaha, NE) earned his
sixth save with a perfect eighth inning.
Game two saw both teams’ offense in high gear.
Dana took an early 2-1 lead with runs in the bootom of the first and
second. DWU exploded for six runs in the top of the third for a 7-2
lead. Dana held its ground and tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of
the inning, but was unable to stop the Tigers offense. Austin Lunn,
Alex Johnson, and Andrew Cookston (FR, Lincoln, NE) each had two
hits. Lunn drove in three runs. Johnson and Taylor Hoskinson
(FR, Omaha, NE) each has two RBI’s. Anthony Teal picked up the loss in
relief.

Dana is now 9-26 overall and 6-14 in the GPAC. The
Vikings will host Peru State on Tuesday. The two teams will play one,
nine-inning game starting at 3:00pm on Petersen Field.
