Kulus Signs
with Dana College
BLAIR,
NE – Danny Kulus, a senior utility player from Omaha Roncalli High
School, has signed a national letter of intent with Dana College. He
will begin school and fall practice with the Vikings’ baseball team
in August. Kulus, a 6-foot, 190-pound right-hander who normally
plays first base, is hitting .390 this spring while batting in the
three-hole for the Crimson Pride. He has driven in 12 runs with 12
singles, four doubles and a home run in 13 games. His slugging
percentage is .537 and he has an on-base percentage of .457.
“Nobody leaves
more on the baseball field than Danny Kulus,” Roncalli coach Tom
Kupfer said. “He has a knack for making big plays, getting big hits,
and doing whatever is necessary to help his team win. That can mean
offering his shoulder to an inside fastball or giving up his body to
stop a sharply hit baseball. Whatever it takes, Danny Kulus
delivers.”
Kupfer added
that, “The kid has intangible qualities. He is confident, and he
wants the bat in his hands in big situations.”
Dana head coach
Ken Misfeldt is definitely excited to know that Kulus will be in a
Dana uniform next fall.
“I’ve known
Danny for about three years now,” Dana head baseball coach Ken
Misfeldt said. “Needless to say, I am thrilled to know that he will
be knocking in some runs for us next year. Danny is a tough kid who
can play anywhere, including on the mound, and he’s not the type of
kid who will be intimidated by any opponent.”
Kulus, the son
of Greg and Jo Kulus, will be majoring in secondary education at
Dana.
Coach Misfeldt
is in his second season at the helm of the Viking baseball program.
Last year, Dana was 10-34. Dana College is a private, Lutheran
college located in Blair, Nebraska. They participate in the Great
Plaines Athletic Conference and a member of the NAIA. Dana College
is a place where all students actively participate.
