Biology majors at Dana learn from experienced faculty who choose
to mentor students rather than instruct them. All of our faculty
have the highest academic degrees possible in their fields and have
done research on everything from paleontology to how human activity
affects stream environments.
As a major, you'll learn by doing experiments
along with your classmates. Some of the experiments will be designed
by your instructors and
some will be thought up by you to explore your own specific interests.
As one faculty member says, "At Dana, you tell us what you
want to learn and we find a way for you to do that."
Biology
majors can also choose to emphasize in one of four areas: Ecology,
Environmental Studies, Biochemistry and Pre-Health.
No matter where you want to end up in life, a broad education
from the Biology Department can get you there.
