Home > Campus Life > Safety and Security > REPORTING A CRIME

All crimes are reported directly to campus security by calling security at 533-3343. Victims are encouraged to report all incidents, no matter how insignificant they may seem. An officer will respond, intervene if necessary, provide assistance and take a report. If warranted, campus security will contact the Blair police for assistance.

Students and employees may also report a crime on a voluntary, confidential basis by sending a detailed account of the incident to the Security Department through Campus Mail or U.S. Mail. If a crime is substantiated it will be included in the annual crime statistics report.

Dana College pastoral and professional counselors are encouraged to inform persons they are counseling of the proper procedures to report crimes on a voluntary, confidential basis if deemed appropriate. If substantiated the crime will be included in the statistics of this report

Detailed information regarding the procedures to follow when a sex offense occurs, disciplinary action procedures and counseling opportunities is available in the Guide for Residence Living, Student Survival Guide, Faculty Handbook and the Administrative and Hourly Staff Employee Handbook. The student guides are distributed to all students yearly. Employee handbooks are distributed upon hire or major document revisions.

Offenses, which are committed by either students or employees, may be referred to local law enforcement offices for criminal prosecution and/or dealt with by Dana College as a disciplinary matter. College sanctions have a wide range, up to and including the expulsion of students and the termination of employment for faculty/staff.
