Education Related Occupations

Those completing an education major and a teaching endorsement including student teaching frequently enter the teaching profession as a classroom teacher in public or private educational institutions which serve students in Kindergarten through the Twelfth Grades.

Those who wish to teach in colleges or universities generally hold an advanced degree in their field with a Ph.D. being the generally accepted requirement for college and university positions. Exceptions are professional fields such as medicine and law where an applicable terminal degree other than a Ph.D. may be required, and some other fields in which a masters degree is sufficient. If you wish to teach in a post-secondary institution, research the field you want to enter to discover what degree may be required.

For those completing an education major who do not wish to be a classroom teacher there are many occupational opportunities listed here. Some may require additional training beyond a B.A.
