The criteria for admission are used to identify those who are most
likely to complete a college program of study. The Admissions Office
evaluates each candidate for admission on an individual basis and
admission decisions are based on the student’s high school
grade point average and results of the ACT (American College Testing
Program) or SAT I (Scholastic Assessment Test of the College Board).
These criteria pertain to a freshman applicant only – transfer
student admissions criteria are located on the next page.
A freshman applicant is required to submit an official transcript
from their high school, or a high school equivalency certificate
based on the GED tests. The high school transcript is recommended
to include four years of English, four years of social science, three
years of math, three years of science and two years of a foreign
language.
A freshman applicant who has taken college courses for credit is
required to provide Dana with official transcripts from each college
attended.
Dana College processes all applications on a rolling basis (including
transfers). An application is considered complete when all academic
credentials – including the high school and/or college transcript(s)
and results of the ACT or SAT I – have been received. Notification
is sent to each candidate for admission within two weeks after submitting
the required academic information. High school students are advised
to apply for admission as early in their senior year as possible.
This is particularly true for those who desire financial aid. Freshman
and transfer students may begin their studies at the start of the
Fall Semester, Discovery Term (a three-week program of study in January)
or the Spring Semester. The preferred application deadline for the
Fall Semester is August 1. Applications for Spring Semester should
be submitted by January 10.
