Although it is primarily the responsibility of the family to finance
a student’s education, Dana College will work on your behalf
to keep your investment in a college education affordable. Financial
aid is awarded to students on merit, as well as on a need basis.
In determining a financial aid package, outside source tuition only
scholarships are considered first, merit-based Dana scholarships
are considered next. Dana College scholarships and grants can only
be applied to tuition. If a student is eligible for a Federal Pell
Grant, it is considered next. Remaining need will be met through
other financial aid programs including federal and state grants,
loans and work.
Substitute awards cannot be guaranteed if an award or part of an
award package is declined. Students that receive funding from outside
resources, such as a private scholarship, must contact the Financial
Aid Office so that it is included in their financial aid package.
Only financial aid awards originating and signed by a Financial Aid Office
employee are considered official offers of aid from Dana College. A student
has a three-week deadline to accept and return official award offers back to
the Financial Aid Office. After the three week deadline any aid offered and
not accepted may be withdrawn.
