There are approximately 250 computers on the Dana College campus
for use by students, faculty, and staff. All computers are connected
via fiber-optic network to one of several internal file servers and
the Internet. The ratio of students to computers is approximately
five to one. There are several computer labs available across campus.
The main computer lab in the Margre Henningsen Durham Center houses
26 Windows computers, and there are four smaller labs in the Dana
LIFE Library, the Learning Center, the Dana Hall of Science, and
the Durham Center. There is also a Macintosh lab with 11 computers
in the Madsen Fine Arts Center. Each of the Residence halls also
has a computer lab with three Windows-based machines providing 24-hour
access.
Network accounts are available to all students registered for at
least one credit class, as well as to the faculty and staff. These
accounts provide access to the software on Dana’s network and
Internet. Direct Internet access is available to students in their
residence hall room who have a computer and network card.
A training session, given by a member of the college’s Computer
Services staff, is required for each new network user. Individual
assistance is also available for students, faculty, and staff. Network
and Internet accounts are discontinued when a user leaves the college.
