CLASSIFICATION OF STUDENTS

Full-time/Part-time | Participation in Intercollegiate Athletics | Grade Classification

Freshman | Sophomore | Junior | Senior | Postgraduate | Special, Unclassified

Full-time/Part-time
The normal semester load for students is 12-16 credit hours with a minimum of 12 credits needed to be considered full-time. Consent of the advisor and the Registrar is required for loads of more than 16 credits. Additional fees are assessed. Students enrolled in fewer than 12 credits are considered part-time.

Each semester credit for which a student registers will normally require three hours of the student’s time each week. This time will consist of one hour in class and two hours of preparation, or three hours of laboratory work.

Participation in Intercollegiate Athletics
A student who participates in intercollegiate athletics during any academic term must be enrolled as a full-time student during that term. Thus, during the fall semester the student must be registered for at least 12 credits, during Discovery Term at least three credits, and during the spring semester at least 12 credits. Conference and NAIA rules also apply for participation in intercollegiate athletics.

Grade Classification
Designation as a member of a particular class is based on the number of credit hours successfully completed, not the number of years in attendance. It is recommended that a student select a major prior to reaching junior status.
