The courses in Health are designed to give students a sound foundation in fundamental concepts to support the Physical Education major so that they may do advanced work.

HEA 105 Personal and Community Health 2 credits
A study of nutrition, mental health, dental hygiene, anatomical systems, communicable diseases, environmental and public health. Special emphasis placed on alcohol and drug abuse.

HEA 209 Functional Anatomy 3 credits
A study of the structure and primary functions of the human body.

HEA 210 Kinesiology 3 credits
A study of the muscles and emphasis on their functions and their use in specific activities.
Completion of HEA 209 Functional Anatomy is encouraged.

HEA 306 Emergency Care of Sick and Injured 2 credits
A thorough study of emergency procedures in dealing with victims of sickness and injuries. The course is open to any student. All prospective teachers are encouraged to enroll.

HEA 399 Special Topics 1-3 credits
A selected area of study in health. The topic is announced in the appropriate semester’s course schedule.
Prerequisite: Generally, sophomore standing or permission of instructor. Offered as needed.

HEA 408 Physiology of Exercise 3 credits
Application of physiological principles which apply to human activity patterns.
Prerequisite: HEA 209 Functional Anatomy.
