The Morton Scholars Program at Dana College is designed to: attract,
retain and challenge academically gifted students; help students
realize their full intellectual, social and spiritual potential;
and enhance their employability and admission to graduate schools.
It offers qualified students the opportunity to have a distinctive
educational experience in portions of the General Education Program,
in their chosen major area of study, and in co-curricular activities.
The Morton Scholars Program seeks to structure a learning experience
in which students are challenged to develop their initiative, independence,
and commitment to go beyond what is required. Faculty serve as mentors
in the process of discovery.
Students’ research and study are publicly honored. Students
interact with other students and faculty in ways that contribute
positively to the intellectual, social and spiritual climate of Dana
College.
Students who are qualified to participate in the Dana Honors Program
are designated “Morton Scholars” in honor of the late
Dr. Richard E. Morton, President of Dana College and Trinity Seminary
from 1944-1956.
Morton Scholars may register for up to three (3) credit hours per
academic year in regularly scheduled courses over the normal limit
of 16 credit hours per semester with no additional tuition fees.
