The Dana College Chorale is chosen by Director Richard Palmer from
the members of Dana Voices, a vocal group made up of all who wish
to join. Chorale members are chosen based on their vocal abilities
and five criteria:
- Pitch Memory
- Rhythm Reading
- Sight Reading
- Tone Quality
- Attitude
Incoming students who are interested in Chorale can get a leg up
by competing in the Melchior Voice Competitions held in late winter.
This competition is judged by Dr. Palmer and other accomplished musicians.
Winners can receive up to $5,000 in scholarship money. You can get
on the Melchior list by filling out the Vocal
Music Questionnaire.
Being in the Dana College Chorale has many rewards, including excellent
musical training, a chance to travel the country and the world, and
the opportunity to make lifelong friends. But the Chorale is a completely
voluntary organization. No scholarships awarded require students
to participate in Chorale. Only those committed
to excellence and desiring a challenge need apply.
