Vikings Run at Conference Meet

Doane College was the host of this year’s Great Plains Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships.  The Dana men’s cross country team finished sixth.  The women’s team placed tenth.

Cory Logsdon (SO, Ft. Calhoun, Neb.) was the top Viking runner with an 11th place finish.  Logsdon covered the eight-kilometer course in 26:38.  Eric Bane (SR, Oakland, Iowa) was the next runner for Dana College.  Bane finished in 23rd place in a time of 27:11.  Andrew Palmblade (SO, Hastings, Neb.) finished with a time of 27:21 and placed 27th.  Kevin Bane (SO, Oakland, Iowa) placed 43rd with a time of 28:12.  Mason Lantz (FR, Fairfield, Iowa) came in 51st with a time of 28:22.  Bryson Pascua (SO, Pearl City, Hawaii) ran a time of 29:13 and placed 72nd.  James Gerold (FR, Hastings, Neb.) kept pace with his teammate with a time of 29:23 and in 75th place.  Justin Nielsen (FR, Omaha, Neb.) finished the course in a time of 30:53, which put him in 96th place.  Teammate Dan Staehlin (FR, Omaha, Neb.) was just a minute behind in 99th place with a time of 31:27.

Chelsea Fibranz (SO, McPherson, Kan.) was the top Viking runner.  Fibranz covered the five-kilometer course in 20:31 and placed 37th.  Amy Jackman (JR, Seward, Neb.) was the next runner with a time of 21:31.  Jackman finished in 59th place.  Tabitha Kabala (SR, Davenport, Iowa) finished her final GPAC meet in 21:45 and placed 65th.  Jennifer Anderson (SR, Lincoln, Neb.) kept close in the pack and finished 70th overall in a time of 21:50.  Rachel Ness (SO, Seward, Neb.) finished six seconds behind Anderson and in 72nd place.  Teammate Paris Kono (FR, West Des Moines, Iowa) finished her first conference meet with a time of 22:07 and placed 76th.  Emily Johnson (FR, Sheridan, Ark.) finished in 91st place with a time of 23:45.  Kaleigh Flippin (JR, Omaha, Neb.) came in with a time of 25:34.  Ashleigh Nigh (FR, Omaha, Neb.) followed with a time of 28:32.

The NAIA Region III Cross Country Championships will be next Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D., at the Prairie Green Golf Course. The NAIA National Cross Country Championships are Nov. 17, in Kenosha, Wis.
