Home > English & Theater > WHAT WILL I STUDY?

With Dana's flexible English and Theater Department you can pick a major, minor or emphasis that best reflects your own interests. Once you have decided on an academic path, our dedicated faculty will work with you to tailor your education to be exactly what you need. Because of our small size and personal atmosphere we can make sure you get an education made for you.

Programs within the department have many different requirements, but all students in the English major take the following courses:

  • English Literature I
  • English Literature II
  • American Literature I
  • American Literature II
  • World Literature
  • Shakespeare

Classes in each minor reflect the focus of the minor. (For example, Creative Writing minors take writing classes, while Theater minors take classes on Theater, mainly by working with Dana College Theater.)
