Dr. Scott Hermanson, assistant professor of English, has been chosen by the student body of Dana College as the 2003–04 Professor of the Year.

“ This person has really made my English major worthwhile” said Dana student Bernardo Hinojosa in presenting the award to Hermanson. “This person treats you like an equal and doesn’t hold his title around his neck.”

Dana’s Professor of the Year is chosen by a vote of the entire student body. Recipients must have demonstrated excellence in teaching, positive interpersonal relationships, organization and classroom management, intellectual stimulation and desirable behavior outside the classroom. Professors who have received the award within the past five years are not eligible

 

Hermanson became a Dana faculty member in 2002. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication studies from Northwestern University and a master of arts degree in English from the University of Cincinnati. The University of Cincinnati also awarded him a Ph.D.
