Professor Joan Bucy joined Dana's communication
department full time in the fall of 2002 after teaching at Dana
part time for many years. She received her bachelor of arts in
communication from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1983
and her master of arts in communication from UNO in 1996.
Her special areas of interest include gender communication, interpersonal
communication and communication in the media. Her master's thesis
examined "Sex-role Stereotypes in Children's Storybooks".
Prof. Bucy has extensive writing experience and is the past
recipient of several Nebraska Press Association awards for
newswriting, feature writing, photography and design. Community
service work includes grant writing for local non-profit organizations
and schools.
