Dr. John Lyden's students have a chance to learn from an accomplished author.

" My research and my teaching are integrally connected, as I examine religion as a part of culture, including popular culture. Students seem to find this approach more relevant, as religious beliefs and values are not seen as things separated from the rest of life, but as things they encounter every day."
— Dr. John Lyden

Dr. Lyden is the editor of "Enduring Issues in Religion" (Greenhaven Press: 1995), the text he uses in his introductory religion class. He is also the author of numerous articles, as well as "Film as Religion: Myths, Morals, Rituals" (NYU Press: 2003).

Dr. Lyden came to Dana in 1991. He was awarded his bachelor of arts degree from Wesleyan University in 1981, and his master of arts degree from Yale University in 1983. His Ph.D. was received from the University of Chicago in 1989.
