Professor Vern Wirka has extensive broadcasting and entertainment industry experience. In addition to his academic credentials and teaching experience, Professor Wirka is a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers and is a Certified Professional Broadcast Engineer (CPBE). Professor Wirka is the director of the Dana campus radio station KDCV and cable television DVTV.

Professor Wirka teaches a variety of courses drawing upon his academic background and years of experience including:

1) electronic journalism
2) interviewing
3) radio production and broadcasting
4) video production and television broadcasting
5) public speaking
6) communication law
7) race, class and gender in the media
8) humor in communication
9) I- Media audio and video production

Professor Wirka is a consultant for the broadcast industry. In addition to being an educator and consultant, Professor Wirka is an accomplished ventriloquist. He has performed throughout the United States for school assembly programs, festivals, fairs and family oriented events. Professor Wirka enjoys amateur radio and has an FCC Extra class license (call sign W0VMP).
