If the thought of investigating immigrant life by exploring actual letters home or learning the nuances of U.S.-Latin American relations gets you excited about college, then the History major at Dana is the right choice for you. Our dedicated faculty believe in learning through participation. As a history major, you'll work one-on-one with your faculty mentor and in teams with your fellow students to research the past through primary and secondary documents. By the time you graduate, you'll know all the skills graduate schools, museums and social services are looking for from History students.

The Dana campus and surrounding communities offer several opportunities to research exciting, unexplored opportunities. Dana, originally founded by Danish immigrants in 1884, hosts the Danish Immigrant Archives, a collection of primary documents written by the immigrants themselves. Volunteers work around the year to translate these documents so historians can give them further study.

Omaha is also rich in history, whether your interests run to the Original Omaha and Pawnee inhabitants or the Stealth Bomber and Strategic Air Command — or anything in the 10,000 years in between — you'll find ample opportunities to explore your own individual passions.
