Who is considered an International Student?

  • If you are not a citizen of the United States and you are not a Permanent Resident Alien, Asylee, or Refugee, you are classified as an international applicant.
  • If you are a Pending Permanent Resident Alien, you are classified as an international applicant.

Application Deadline
The deadline for applying is May 31st of the year you plan to enroll. At this time, Dana College only accepts international student applications for enrollment for the fall semester. We do not accept online applications from prospective international students.

Before You Apply
Dana College welcomes applications from International Students as freshmen or as transfer students. Before you begin the process of applying, here are some important points to remember:

  • You must complete all portions of the international student application and declaration of finances. If you are currently in the United States on a visa, please keep in mind that Dana can only accept students with an F-1 visa.
  • If you are applying as a freshman student, you must have an official copy of your high school or secondary level transcripts/mark sheets/certificates/diplomas sent directly from the issuing institution to either Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. or World Education Services for evaluation.
  • If you are applying as an undergraduate transfer student (meaning you completed secondary school and then attended a college or university), you must have official copies of your transcripts or academic records sent directly from the issuing institution to either Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. or World Education Services for evaluation.
  • Contact either organization to make arrangements to have your transcripts (from all post-secondary institutions you attended) evaluated in English. You will be responsible for any fees, and you must direct any questions concerning your credentials to the organization you choose to work with.

  • If English is not the primary, or official, language in your country, you must submit current (within the past two years) TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores.

Freshman Student Application Procedures:
All international applicants must submit the following items to be considered for admission to Dana College as a freshman:

  • Transcripts: Official transcripts/academic records/mark sheets from all high schools (secondary schools) attended must be evaluated and translated by either Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. or World Education Services. Dana College will only accept academic credentials directly from either of these organizations.
  • TOEFL Score: Applicants from countries where English is not the primary or official language must submit a TOEFL score. Dana College requires a minimum paper based score of 500 or better or a computer based score of 173 or better. We will only accept TOEFL scores directly from ETS (Educational Testing Service). Provide ETS with our identification code: 6157.
  • Letter of Guarantee of Funds from your bank, or the bank of the person responsible for paying for your education. This letter is used to verify that the needed funds will be available to you while you are a student at Dana. This letter must be mailed directly from the bank to Dana College, Admissions Office, 2848 College Drive, Blair, NE 68008 U.S.A.

Transfer Student Application Procedures:
All international applicants must submit the following items to be considered for admission to Dana College as a transfer student:

  • Transcripts: Official transcripts/academic records/mark sheets from all post secondary colleges or universities you’ve attended must be evaluated and translated by either Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. or World Education Services. Dana College will only accept academic credentials directly from either of these organizations.
  • TOEFL Score: Applicants from countries where English is not the primary or official language must submit a TOEFL score. Dana College requires a minimum paper based score of 500 or better or a computer based score of 173 or better. We will only accept TOEFL scores directly from ETS (Educational Testing Service). After You’ve Applied
After the items listed above have been received by the Admissions Office, an admissions decision will be rendered and you will be notified. If you are accepted into Dana College, your acceptance letter will be mailed to you along with a health form, a student housing form and your
I-20. Please remember that once you receive your I-20, you are responsible for setting up an appointment at the American consulate in order to apply for an F-1 visa. Dana College has no control over the decision made by the U.S. State Department. If you are denied a visa, you should direct any questions to the U.S. consulate or embassy in your home country.  Once you have completed the health form and housing form, return them to the Dana College Admissions Office along with a non-refundable $100 enrollment deposit.

In order for you to attend classes at Dana College, you must also provide us with proof of health insurance. This must be done prior to attending classes. Any international student without proof of proper insurance coverage will not be allowed to enroll in classes. Once you have your student visa and have provided proof of health insurance, contact Melinda Stoner to make arrangements to register for classes.
