Career Achievements:
Since I graduated from Dana, I have worked in the Admissions
Department. Currently, I am the associate director of admissions
and Dana and work mostly
with transfer students. I also plan Dana's on-campus admissions events
and oversee
our
student tour guide staff. I was named Staff Member of the Year 2000–01
by the Dana student body.
How did Dana help prepare you for your career
or graduate school?
Dana was a very encouraging environment that allowed me to try
new things and not be afraid to fail. My time here as a student
taught
me to recognize
the
talents of others and how to learn not only from professors but
also from my peers. I
gained the confidence to speak up when I knew an answer or had
an idea.
What do remember most about your time at Dana?
Looking back, I remember all of the great times that I had
hanging out with my friends and doing crazy stuff. Living
in the residence
halls,
it was easy
to
find something going on and someone to hang out with. Plus,
there were a lot of late hours working on the Hermes on
Thursday nights
listening
to KDCV.
With
all the fun we had messing around, it was amazing that we got
a paper out on Fridays. It was cool to work on a team to produce
the weekly
newspaper and
then see people reading it and talking about it the next day.
Putting
together
the
year-end Herpes was also a blast!
I also had some really cool
classes that I remember. English Senior Seminar with
John Mark Nielsen, Photojournalism with
Starla and
any of the Humanities
courses
that I took were very challenging at the time and I learned
so much. Whenever we would complete a test, project or critique
in those classes,
it really
felt like an accomplishment. |
