How did Dana help prepare
you for your career or graduate school?
First when I attended, Dr. (Larrie) Stone and Dr. Mark Davis were
running the Biology Department. Initially, my own expectations
toward
academic achievements were low. Dr. Stone and Dr. Davis felt I could
achieve more, so I believed
them, ultimately keeping a 3.8 GPA and getting into
med school. Absolutely no doubt
in my mind, that had I not had individual encouragement
I would
not be where I am.
What do remember most about your time at Dana?
Studying after-hours in the science buidling! (They gave us the
keys to the department.) Several other students, all pushing
each other.
One eveing (11
p.m.) before a
test, Dr. Davis was making the test and he brought
his dog! He was joking how hard the test was going to be and
we were
joking that
we would
all
get 100
percent. Long story short, he had fun, we had fun
and four out
of five people in the test
group are either M.D.s or successful biologists.
Must have worked.
