In 10 years, I will be…

In 10 years, I plan to have received my master's degree in either Music Education or Music Performance and will be looking to begin working on a doctorate degree. I will have a wife, 2.4 children and live in a three-story house with a white picket fence.

What's the coolest thing you've done since you began attending Dana?
After the death of Omaha Police Officer Jason Tyler Pratt, the Dana College Chorale was asked to sing at his funeral. The funeral was held at the Civic Auditorium in Omaha and was televised on local stations. Considering the tragedy of the situation, it meant a lot to be a part of an ensemble that was well-known and respected enough to sing at the funeral of an officer killed in the line of duty.

Why did you choose Dana?
I chose Dana because it was the ONLY school that met all of the criteria I set forth for a college. Dana offered me the chance to be active in all phases of music, as well as theatre and Senate, while still meeting my financial needs through scholarships and grants. Also, I have more than 30 relatives who have attended Dana, which also had some influence on my decision.

What's the best thing about being a student at Dana?
The best thing about being at Dana is the atmosphere. The small number of students really gives everyone a chance to meet everyone else on campus. You will make many friends outside of just the activities that you religiously participate in.

What will you remember most about your time at Dana?
The thing that I will remember about college is the adjustment, but not in the way that I had anticipated. The actual transition was very easy, thanks in large part to the efforts of Dana during the orientation period. Not until I went back to my high school did I realize the transformation my life had undergone. Just going back and seeing from the outside what my life was like just nine months earlier was a real shock.

What's the best thing about living on campus?
I am living in Holling Hall. The best part about it is the convenience of living next to all of your friends. My house is only about 4 miles from the campus, but my parents wanted me to live on campus so I could experience being away from home. I am glad they did. It is very convenient already being on campus and much easier to be involved.

What do you and your friends enjoy doing?
My friends and I spend a lot of time playing NCAA Football against each other on the PS2. We also like to go over to Borup Coliseum at night and play a little basketball. Just always being able to hang out with friends is probably the best part of college.

What college class has been the most fun for you and why?
The best class that I have taken is Introduction to Psychology. I would strongly recommend taking this course. It is relevant in every aspect of life. Learning about why people are the way they are and why people do the things they do has been very interesting.
