Feb. 23, 2006

In the second round of the GPAC post-season tournament, the Dana men’s basketball team faced the challenge of defeating No. 1 ranked University of Sioux Falls on their home court in Sioux Falls, S.D. USF proved why they are number one by sinking three-pointers and holding Dana’s Mark Esser (Woodbine, Iowa) to three shots from the field. USF defeated Dana 80-59, ending the Vikings’ 2006 season.

Esser was 3-3 from the field and scored 11 points in the game. Jason Isaacson (Council Bluffs, Iowa) led Dana with 22 points. Ted Cox (Hawley, Minn.) was Dana’s third leading scorer with 9.

The Vikings finish the 2006 season with a record of 14-18 overall, 7-11 in the GPAC.

The game also ended the careers of five seniors: Tyler Mohr (Ocheyedan, Iowa), Rob Cox (Hawley, Minn.), Mark Svagera (Ralston, Neb.), Isaacson and Esser.
