Jan. 4, 2006

In just a season and a half, Dana College men’s basketball athlete Jason Isaacson (Council Bluffs, Iowa) scored 1013 points. Isaacson needed just eight points in last night’s game with rival Midland Lutheran to exceed the 1000-point mark. He scored 21.

Isaacson averages 25.81 points per game, making him the second leading scorer in the NAIA and the leader of the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Through 100 years of men’s basketball at Dana College no one has scored more points in a single game. Isaacson scored a school record 43 points against South Dakota Tech on Dec. 30th.

He also looks to be the best free-throw shooter Dana has ever seen. He currently holds a .863 career free throw percentage. He’s sunk 265 free throws as a Viking.

Isaacson says his secret to shooting is “repetition.” He shoots hundreds of shots each day. But he contributes his success to his teammates and God for giving him the opportunities.

Isaacson graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After two years in college, he transferred to Dana in 2003. Because he transferred within the GPAC, conference rules required him to sit out one year. Last season, his first on the court for the Vikings, Isaacson scored 579 points.

Isaacson is a senior this season.
