Cold shooting on the road cost the
Dana College Men’s Basketball in an 82-67 loss to Dakota Wesleyan
Sunday at the Corn Palace.
Dana trailed at halftime 46-28. The Vikings shot only 33 percent
from the field in the opening half and only hit 50 percent of their
free throws. The Tigers, on the other hand, were perfect from
behind the charity stripe and hit more than 60 percent from the
field in the first half.
The second half saw the Vikings heat up. Dana shot 42 percent in
the half and only missed one free throw, but that was not enough to
close the double-digit gap.
The Vikings were led once again by the trio of Mark Esser (SR,
Woodbine, Iowa), Jason Isaacson (SR, Council Bluffs, Iowa), and
Robbie Cox (SR, Hawley, Minn.).
Esser had a double-double for the Vikings as he scored 20 points and
pulled down 10 rebounds. Isaacson scored 18 points and was six of
six from the free throw line. Cox added 13 points and was 3 of 8
from behind the three-point line.
Trent Mumma (SO, Bennington, Neb.) and Zeb Christiansen (SR, State
Center, Iowa) were tough on the boards for the Vikings. Mumma pulled
down six rebounds, while Christensen added five (three offensive).
The Vikings start a stretch of games where they will play seven of
ten at home. Dana will host Concordia University tomorrow evening
at 7:30 p.m. Dana drops to 9-9 on the season and 4-3 in conference.
