Nov. 2, 2005

The 2005-06 Dana men’s basketball team opened its season Saturday against Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa. Grand View, a veteran team, took Dana by surprise, 82-71.

Returning starter Jason Isaacson (Council Bluffs, Iowa) led the Vikings with 33 points. He was 11-18 from the field, made 2-6 three-pointers, and shot a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.

Isaacson’s highest scoring game last season was against Nebraska Wesleyan. He scored 38 points in that game.

But Isaacson’s performance was not enough to carry the Vikings to victory. The inexperienced Vikings were plagued by turnovers, committing 27 in the game to Grand View’s 15.

“We were disappointed with our performance Saturday,” said Dana Head Coach Chris Fear. “We learned some things and we can make the necessary adjustments.”

The Dana men host William Penn in their first home game of the season tomorrow night. Tip off is at 7:30 p.m. at the Gardner-Hawks Center.
