Dana men's
basketball finished 1-1 at the Kansas/Nebraska Classic hosted by
Midland Lutheran in Fremont, Neb. Dana defeated Ottawa University,
103-88, Friday night, but lost to Baker University, 83-85, on Saturday
afternoon.
At halftime Saturday, the Dana College men led Baker University,
49-37. The Vikings retained their lead for most of the second
half. But
Baker rallied to tie the score at 70 with 5:19 left in the game.
The teams traded points for the next few minutes. With 1:55
on the clock, Jason Isaacson (Council Bluffs, Iowa) hit a three
for the lead. Baker answered with a three-pointer of their
own. Dana drove in a
layup. Baker made a jumper. Then Dana missed a shot
and Baker took advantage by making a layup for a 2-point lead. A
last second shot by Isaacson was good to tie it up again. But
with only 3 seconds remaining Baker got off one last shot and scored
to win the game.
Isaacson had 36 points in the game. Mark Esser (Woodbine,
Iowa) scored 17 and Rob Cox (Hawley, Minn.) scored 10.
In Friday nigh'ˆs 103-88 victory over Ottawa University,
the Vikings held the lead the entire game. Isaacson had 30
points, six assists, and three steals. Esser scored 24 points
and pulled down 8 rebounds. Zeb Christensen (State Center, Iowa)
was the Vikings©ˆ leading rebounder
with 10.
Dana is now 2-2 overall. Dana hosts York College at 7:30 p.m. on
Tuesday.
