The Dordt
College Defenders thundered in and stole the home court out from
under the Dana men’s basketball team Saturday afternoon in Blair.
Everything clicked for the Dordt offense and the Defenders gained a
19-point lead by the end of the first half. Dana could not overcome
the deficit and dropped their conference opener 87-72 to Dordt.
Dana guard Jason
Isaacson (Council Bluffs, Iowa) scored 16 points, 5 assists and four
rebounds in the game. Isaacson had a scoring average of 32 points/game
going into Saturday’s match-up.
Tyler Mohr (Ocheyedan,
Iowa) and freshman Zach Genant (Springfield, S.D.) each scored 11. Mark
Esser (Woodbine, Iowa) led Dana’s rebounding with nine. Esser had five
points in the game.
The Vikings
committed 23 turnovers- 16 in the first half. Add to that Dana’s
forty-one percent shooting in the first half while Dordt was shooting
sixty percent from the field.
Expect Dana’s
youthful, hard-working team to bounce back quickly.
Dana will get
another chance at a conference win Tuesday night. Dana hosts Doane
College at 7:30pm.
