The Dana College Menıs Basketball team traveled to the Perkins Classic over the Christmas break to take on Black Hills State University and South Dakota Tech. The Vikings came out on the wrong end of the score against each school. Dana lost 77-59 to Black Hills State and 87-85 to South Dakota Tech.

In the first game, Dana College was down by only four at half time, but a strong second half by BHSU lifted them to the 18-point victory.

Jason Issacson (SR, Council Bluffs, Iowa) led Dana offensively with 19 points. Mark Esser (SR, Woodbine, Iowa) chipped in six points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Zeb Christiansen (SR, State Center, Iowa), Robbie Cox (SR, Hawley, Minn.), Doug Huston (FR, Olathe, Kan.) and Jared Kitzelman (JR, Fremont, Neb.) each added five points apiece.

The second game pitted the Vikings against the South Dakota Tech Hardrockers. Dana held a seven-point halftime lead, but could not stop Techıs second half comeback. The Hardrockers hit two free throws with 2.8 seconds left to go in the game for the win.

Dana had three players in double digits against Tech. Senior guard Tyler Mohr (Ocheyedan, Iowa) hit four three-pointers in the game. Mohr finished up with 16 points and four assists. Esser scored 12 points and pulled down a team-high five rebounds (three were offensive). Isaacson scored a team-high
43 points on the night. Isaacson hit five three-pointers in the loss and was 10 of 11 from the charity stripe.

The two losses drop the Vikings to 8-8 on the season. Dana returns to conference play on Wednesday night against rival Midland Lutheran in Fremont. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The next home game for the hoopsters is Jan. 10 against Concordia University at 7:30 p.m.
