Christine Zerbst joins the Dana Community as the new Director of Residence Life. Christine comes to us from Wisconsin with an M.Ed. degree from Purdue University. She has experience in the Residence Life field, with her latest position as an Assistant Director of Residential Life and Education at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.


Rebecca Brabec Vande Hei, MSW, LCSW, of San Clemente, California, will be on campus Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 11 - 13. A 1989 Dana BSW graduate, Becca will be speaking in social work classes and volunteering in the social work department. With experience in medical social work, working with addicted and at-risk single mothers, and psychotherapy, Becca brings a range of expertise, and we are grateful for her willingness to share her knowledge with our students. While a student at Dana, she was active in the choir, Voices, and other musical groups. Please welcome Becca back to Dana!


Dr. Peggy Holloway was invited to serve as a guest columnist for the
Nebraska Music Educators Association. Her article "Making Connections-A
Case for Transdisciplinarity" appeared in the August edition of the NMEA
Journal.


Alexander Hamilton (1757-1804), the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury at age 32, is the focus of a groundbreaking new traveling exhibition opening at the C.A. Dana-LIFE Library on the Dana College campus, Aug. 23-Oct. 5.

The public is invited to attend a special dinner celebrating the exhibit on Friday, September 21. Beginning at 5 p.m. in The Forum, the event will include "A Visit with Alexander Hamilton" by impersonator Dr. Don Hickey and a presentation by Dr. Mark Scherer, associate professor of history at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Tickets are $9.00. Reservations are necessary and can be made by clicking here or contacting Carrie Reed, 426-7385, by Monday, September 17.

Tickets are available for the Harlem Ambassadors vs. Blair Bombers basketball game on Sept. 23, 5 pm, at the Blair High School Gym. Tickets are $4 for students and senior citizens and $6 for adults. Children under 5 are admitted free of charge.

The Blair Area Chamber of Commerce "Chamber Communique" says that "The Harlem Ambassadors offer a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball, featuring high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks, and hilarious comedy routines." The Ambassadors have partnered with the Chamber to help raise funds for the "Staying in School, Staying Off Drugs" assembly at Otte Middle school and Habitat for Humanity.
