A group of 30 students and two instructors from the Vejle Handelsskole in Denmark will be staying on campus for a mini-course on "U.S. Business and Culture," from Saturday, September 29 through Monday,
October 8. As in past years, our guests will reside on campus, dine in the campus cafeteria and participate in academic and co-curricular programs.

Visits to area businesses, such as Kelly Ryan Manufacturing in Blair, attractions in Omaha as well as the Danish Immigrant Museum in Elkhorn, Iowa, are included in the students’ program.

Most importantly, the Vejle students and their instructors want to meet their peers on our campus! Volunteers to help with our visitors are encouraged to contact Dr. Sybille Bartels.

Advocates of Liberty first movie meeting:
Brazil (1985)
Part social commentary, part outrageous fantasy, this black comedy presents a future where society is completely controlled by an inefficient government. Sam Lowrey ( Jonathan Pryce) is a daydreaming civil servant who spots an error in a sea of paperwork, leading to the arrest of an innocent man. While Lowrey attempts to right the wrongful arrest, the state incorrectly assumes him to be terrorist Harry Tuttle ( Robert De Niro) and goes after him.

Thursday, Sept. 20
Heritage Room (in the Library)
6 p.m.-9 p.m.
free; snacks provided

About Advocates of Liberty: AoL aims to serve as an outlet for libertarian/third party discussion and discourse on the Dana College campus. The constitution will be available for review at every meeting.

Every February, a group of medical personnel travel to Nicaragua to run a clinic. Thousands come to take advantage of their services, however the need is often times too overwhelming to meet. How can YOU help?
By bringing in Prescription bottles…those little plastic, amber-colored things that you usually throw away. (Please remove the labels before donating them.) Help us collect pill bottles to send to Nicaragua! Collection boxes located at: Student Center, Library, Durham Center, Cooperman Atrium, and Science Hall. Effort sponsored by the Dana Business Club.

Alexander Hamilton (1757-1804), the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury at age 32, is the focus of a groundbreaking new traveling exhibition opening at the C.A. Dana-LIFE Library on the Dana College campus, Aug. 23-Oct. 5.

The public is invited to attend a special program celebrating the exhibit on Friday, September 21. Following a reservation-only dinner at 5 p.m. in The Forum, the public is welcome to attend "A Visit with Alexander Hamilton" by impersonator Dr. Don Hickey and a presentation by Dr. Mark Scherer, associate professor of history at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Staff Council is sponsoring a coat drive to benefit individuals who are less fortunate. Gently used coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, etc., can be brought to the Financial Aid office between now and Nov. 1. All sizes are welcomed, from infant through adult. The items will be donated to the Goldenrod Hills Community Action, where each year they open their doors to anyone in the community who is in need, at no cost to the recipient.

You are invited to hear Dana College organ student Shane Krepp in performance at the Orpheum Theater, 409 South 16th St., Omaha on Sunday, October 28 at 3 p.m. This is a presentation of the River City Theatre Organ Society, and Shane will be the first of several members of the organization to perform on the program.

The program is free, although RCTOS asks that you bring a donation of canned food or a monetary gift for the Omaha food bank.

Tickets are available for the Harlem Ambassadors vs. Blair Bombers basketball game on Sept. 23, 5 pm, at the Blair High School Gym. Tickets are $4 for students and senior citizens and $6 for adults. Children under 5 are admitted free of charge.

The Blair Area Chamber of Commerce "Chamber Communique" says that "The Harlem Ambassadors offer a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball, featuring high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks, and hilarious comedy routines." The Ambassadors have partnered with the Chamber to help raise funds for the "Staying in School, Staying Off Drugs" assembly at Otte Middle school and Habitat for Humanity.

For tickets, see Dr. Kate Joeckel.
