Congratulations to Dana cross country runner Cory Logsdon (SO, Ft. Calhoun, Neb.) who finished the eight kilometer course at the NAIA Region III Meet Saturday in a time of 25:45, which placed him seventh overall. His mark was good enough to qualify for the national cross country race in Kenosha, Wis., Nov. 17. Logsdon also was the top runner from the GPAC.

It's that time again! Sights and Sounds of Christmas is just around the corner! Sights and Sounds is the single largest public relations event we host on campus each year. It gives us a chance to showcase our students as well as Dana College. For a complete schedule, visit http://www.dana.edu/sightsandsounds/.

Volunteers will be needed both Saturday (a.m. set-up) and Sunday, Dec. 1 and 2. Everyone who volunteers four hours or more is welcome to be our guest at the Scandinavian Smorgasbord and will receive a free long-sleeved Sights and Sounds of Christmas t-shirt.

Lapel pins replace buttons this year and will be distributed to all full-time Dana employees as soon as they arrive.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Carrie Reed at x7385 or at creed@dana.edu.

The Dana College Counseling Center is in Mickelsen Hall on the ground floor. The construction that you see is the new Dana College Counseling Center. Diane Nickeson-Ray has been sharing with the campus nurse and security.

There will also be a conference room for small group discussion, education and training for students. I do not know when this will be finished. It will be soon. The first room is a conference room, and the next two doors are counseling. It is designed with student confidentiality in mind. There will be a waiting room, Diane’s office (with the big window) and a counseling room. When students leave the counseling room they do not have to walk back through the waiting room. There is also a women’s restroom at the end of the hall.

Diane should be able to move into her new space by the end of this week. Feel free to stop in during office hours 9:00 am-3:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Every February, a group of medical personnel travel to Nicaragua to run a clinic. Thousands come to take advantage of their services, however the need is often times too overwhelming to meet. How can YOU help?
By bringing in Prescription bottles…those little plastic, amber-colored things that you usually throw away. (Please remove the labels before donating them.) Help us collect pill bottles to send to Nicaragua! Collection boxes located at: Student Center, Library, Durham Center, Cooperman Atrium, and Science Hall. Effort sponsored by the Dana Business Club.

Dana students may attend all our MasterWorks and Chamber concerts at the Omaha Symphony for $10 cash, a student ID, and a completed voucher the day of the show. For more information, click here.
