May 4, 2007

Internationally known historian of the Holocaust, the Shoa, Jewish religion and the Rescue of the Belgian Jews, Sylvain Salomon Brachfeld, will speak at Dana College on Tuesday, May 8.

A Holocaust survivor himself, the title of Brachfeld’s presentation will be “Rescue in Western Europe versus Extermination during the Holocaust.” It will begin at 4 p.m. in The Forum in the Durham Center on the Dana campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Diana Brown, associate professor of Spanish at Dana, has worked with Brachfeld in translating two of his books from French to English. She worked closely on the projects with linguistic advisor Kathleen Rettig of Creighton University.

“ It is an honor for Dana College to have an internationally known speaker of Mr. Brachfeld’s prestige on our campus,” Brown said.
