Ceremony also honors three
valedictorians,
eight Morton Scholars and one honorary doctorate
Dana College confered bachelor degrees on 108 students
during its Commencement Ceremony Saturday, May 24. The ceremony
was held in Borup Coliseum on Dana’s campus in Blair, Neb.
The Class of 2003 had three valedictorians, Lauri
Kahl of Omaha, Neb., Carle Mock of Sidney, Neb., and Justin Wiese
of Randolph, Neb. Eight Morton Scholars, a title conferred after
students meet rigorous academic and service requirements, were also
named during the ceremony. They were Stephanie Collins of Shelby,
Iowa, Jessica Donnell of Cody, Wyo., Amber Lake of Hinton, Iowa,
Jeffrey Mangus of Wellington, Colo., Amy Miller of Denison, Iowa,
Sara Smit of Sioux Falls, S.D., Erin Sorensen of Grand Island, Neb.,
and Heather Wonders of Blair, Neb. An honorary doctor of divinity
was presented to the Rev. Bonnie Jensen, executive director for
the Division of Global Mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church
in America (ELCA) churchwide offices in Chicago. Dana College also
conferred emeritus status on Professor Donald Warman after 42 years
of service to the college.
