Mann Selected as Dana College Professor of the Year

Dr. Diane Mann, assistant professor of special education, recently
was chosen by the student body of Dana College as the 2005–06
Professor of the Year.
“ Dr. Mann always makes herself available to answer students’ questions,” said
junior Lisa Schneider, who presented the award. “She gives 110 percent
in the classroom.”
Mann has taught at Dana since 2001. She served as co-chair of the Education Department
and also coordinated the department’s recent successful effort to be recertified
by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
Mann holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Edinboro
University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Education degree from Millersville
University of Pennsylvania and a Doctor of Education from the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is also a pilot and a former exchange teacher
in Australia.
Dana’s Professor of the Year is chosen by a vote of the entire
student body. Recipients must have demonstrated excellence in teaching,
positive interpersonal relationships, organization and classroom
management, intellectual stimulation and desirable behavior outside
the classroom. Professors who have received the award within the
past five years are not eligible.
