JILL CAMARGO NAMED STAFF MEMBER OF
THE YEAR
Administrative assistant
chosen for honor
by the students of Dana College
Jill Camargo, administrative assistant for Career
Services and Student Life, has been chosen by the student body of
Dana College as the 2002-03 Staff Member of the Year.
Camargo was chosen because of her personal involvement
and commitment to helping students succeed, said Dana College sophomore
Maria Roesler, who presented the award.
“She goes above and beyond the call of duty
to help every student who walks through her door,” Roesler
said.
Camargo is starting her fourth year at Dana College,
where she is also a student working on a teaching Spanish in secondary
education major. She already holds a bachelor’s in speech
communication from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a bachelor’s
in secondary English education from the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Before coming to Dana, Camargo taught in Colorado and Nebraska.
Camargo said she chose to take her position at Dana
because, even though it wasn’t a classroom, she would still
have the opportunity to help students. Her duties include assisting
students in writing résumés and cover letters and
practicing interviewing skills, as well as being a friendly ear
for when students need someone to talk to.
Camargo said she was surprised to receive the honor
and wanted to thank the students because they are the reason she’s
at Dana.
Dana’s Staff Member of the Year is chosen by a vote of the
entire student body.
Dana College is a private, liberal arts institution
that currently enrolls approximately 600 students. The campus is
located on 150 acres overlooking the Missouri River Valley in Blair,
Neb. Dana grants bachelor’s degrees in more than 35 liberal
arts, business, education and pre-professional programs, with an
emphasis on personalized teaching from experienced and dedicated
faculty. Dana is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America, and its athletic teams compete in the Great Plains Athletic
Conference.
