LORI STROHM TO TAKE OVER SPECIAL
EVENTS AND CONFERENCES AT DANA
Former Fort Calhoun gifted
teacher wants to bring more educational opportunities to Blair
Dana College is proud to announce that it has hired
Lori Strohm to fill the newly created position of special event
and conference services coordinator.
Strohm, who comes to Dana after
serving as Fort Calhoun School’s high ability
learner coordinator, began work at Dana on Aug. 15. Her duties will include planning
and executing the college’s special events, such as Sights & Sounds
of Christmas, Arbor Day and Commencement, and increasing and managing the college’s
efforts to attract more conferences and outside groups to campus.
“I think there are many opportunities for local
groups to take advantage of Dana’s beautiful campus,” Strohm
said. “Dana is blessed
with beautiful surroundings, wonderful food services and great facilities and
technology. Best of all, we are very flexible, so nearly anything can be accomplished.”
She
said she hopes to use her background in education to expand the kinds of
groups that use Dana’s facilities and grounds for events,
reunions and retreats. With available housing and up-to-date facilities
that can easily
house groups as small as 20 and as large as 1,000, Dana is perfectly situated
to expand
into this area.
Strohm said she also hopes to build relationships
with the Blair business community. She has already started a list
of people
she would like to speak
to about cooperation
and encourages anyone with ideas to contact her.
“Just give me a call,” she said. “I’m
ready to listen. We have the goal of trying to make what the Blair
community wants and needs from
us happen.”
Strohm can be reached at (402) 426-7387 or lstrohm@dana.edu.
