Gerald
Holbrook to offer free workshops on ancient music form
The Dana College
Music Department is pleased to be able to host Gerald Holbrook
for a morning of Gregorian chant on Friday, Sept. 23. Holbrook will
offer
workshops
in the Musicianship III and Music History I classes, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
respectively in Room 104 of the Madsen Fine Arts Center, followed
by an interactive presentation
during VOICES (a Dana vocal ensemble) rehearsal in Trinity Chapel at noon.
Holbrook
is a recognized expert in this area on the interpretation and performance
of Gregorian chant. He has taught courses in chant at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Seminary in Denton, Neb., and produced two CDs with the seminary choirs.
He now teaches
organ at Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and is a doctoral student in organ
performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Guests are welcome to attend
any of the classes and the VOICES rehearsal. There is no admission
fee.
