LYDEN TO GIVE LUTHERAN COLLEGE PRESENTATION,
OCT. 1
Encore performance is part
of Dana Homecoming
"How We’ve Changed and How We Haven’t: A Faculty
Perspective," is the topic of a one-hour special program at
Dana College on Friday, Oct. 1.
The 4 p.m. program will be at The Forum in the Margre Henningson
Durham Center. Dr. John Lynden, professor of religion at Dana College,
will given an encore presentation of a speech as part of Viking
Homecoming activities. It touches on changes in both the students
and faculty, plus the mission of Dana College as a Lutheran School.
The program was originally presented to the presidents of the Lutheran
Colleges in February 2004. It is a reflection of the values of church-related
higher education. The presentation focuses on the challenges of
church-related education today.
"It also reflects my view of its continued relevance to students
and society as a whole," Lyden said.
Lyden joined the staff at Dana in 1991 and is the editor of "Enduring
Issues in Religion," the text he uses in his introductory religion
class.
The presentation is free and open to the public.

and other important values and knowledge as they make choices about
their future. Dana’s outstanding academic programs in business,
education, art and social work, among others, ensure that students

careers or placement in graduate school.
