DANA CHORALE TO OPEN FOR GARRISON
KEILLOR, OCT. 24
Vocal group to perform at
benefit in Omaha
The Dana College Chorale, one of the region's most esteemed vocal
groups, will perform at a very special event in Omaha on Oct. 24.
The Chorale will open for National Public Radio staple Garrison
Keillor on Oct. 24 at the Omaha Civic Center. Keillor, best known
for his show "Prairie Home Companion," is doing the performance
as a benefit for Lutheran Outdoor Ministries of Nebraska and Iowa.
The event will be an exciting opportunity for the Chorale to expand
its fanbase in the area. Tickets are available at Lutheran churches
and online at www.keillorevent.com
for a suggested donation of $25. Seating at the event is open.
The Dana College Chorale will sing from the following possible
repertoire: “Three Hymns,” arranged by Chorale Director
Richard Palmer; “Ride the Chariot,” arranged by Andre
Thomas; “Joy is on the Way,” by Joy K. Westmoreland;
“Jericho,” arranged by Michael Dryver; “God be
in My Head,” by Palmer; and “Chindia” by Alexandru
Pascanu.
The Dana College Chorale is one of the region’s most esteemed
vocal groups. The Chorale has achieved a level of excellence on
par with groups from the largest universities with one important
difference: All Chorale members have active lives, besides being
in Chorale. As part of the overall Dana mission, Director Richard
Palmer believes performing in the Chorale is an important part of
a liberal arts education. Which means Chorale members can love music
and love psychology (or economics or biology).
Dana College is a place where all students actively participate.
They make things happen — in their own lives and in the lives
of others. Through a highly supportive faculty and campus community,
Dana students develop interpersonal skills, leadership abilities,
and other important values and knowledge as they make choices about
their future. Dana’s outstanding academic programs in business,
education, art and social work, among others, ensure that students
have the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to pursue challenging
careers or placement in graduate school.
Dana College is a private, liberal arts institution in Blair, Neb.
