Those little things usually can be found in the trash can in your
bathroom. You don’t give a second thought to tossing aside
the old pill bottle when you have finished taking your prescription
medicine.
Now what you previously thought of as garbage is being collected
to help others. Every February, a group of medical personnel travel
to Nicaragua to run a clinic. Thousands come to take advantage of
their services, however the need is often times too overwhelming
to meet.
The Dana College Business Club is collecting old prescription bottles
to give to the medical personnel to help them dispense medication. “I
thought it was a really nice thing,” said Julie Pinkelman,
Business Club president. “The Business Club is always looking
for community service. This project gets the whole campus involved.”
The community can help as well. Collection boxes are available in
the Cooperman Atrium of the Gardner-Hawks Center, the Dana Hall of
Science, Pioneer Memorial, the Campus Center and the Durham Center.
Labels should be removed before bottles are donated.
Bottles will be collected until January 15.
