Diane Grote ’03 and Michael Thies ’03 were married
Aug. 9 in Earling, Iowa. Diane teaches a fourth and fifth grade
combination class in Ralston, Neb. Michael works at Travelex in
Omaha, where he performs accounting reconciliations for the currency
exchange among countries.
Lisa (Jackson ’03) Irvin is an enroller at Alliance for Affordable
Sales in Des Moines, Iowa.
Lauri Kahl ’03 is a Spanish teacher in the Louisville, Neb.,
school district.
Kari Kristensen ’03 married Benjamin Huenink on Oct. 4 in
Omaha.
Jeff Mangus ’03 is a wholesale sales administrator for Certified
Transmission Services in Omaha.
William Mathis ’03 is library technician at Dana. He also
helps with custodial support for the library.
Ryan Milner ’03 was the 10,000-meter champion in the Omaha
Marathon, Sept. 28. He also placed fourth in the men’s division
of the Omaha Corporate Cup, Oct. 19. Ryan lives in Council Bluffs,
Iowa.
Jason Schwabauer ’03 is a sales consultant at Qwest in Omaha
and an assistant soccer coach at Dana.
Erin Sorensen ’03 is a chemist in the narcotic department
at Novartis in Waverly, Neb.
Sarah Zehnder ’03 is an intensive supervision officer and
case manager for juvenile justice for Geary and Dickinson counties
in Kansas. She lives in Abilene, Kan.
Renee Hesseltine ’02 is working on her master’s of
divinity degree at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn.
Abigail Jones ’02 is a high school language arts teacher
and cheerleader sponsor in the Norfolk, Neb., school district.
Danielle Soby ’02 is a program coordinator for the Union
Pacific Child Care at Bright Horizon in Omaha. She is also working
on her master’s degree in social work at the University of
Nebraska-Omaha.
John Tripp ’02 won the men’s division of the Omaha
Corporate Cup, Oct. 19, with a time of 33:16. He lives in Omaha.
Marc Bierbaum ’01 placed 14th in the men’s division

Jessica Chambers ’01 married Jason Rausch on Sept. 6 in Omaha.
Jessica is employed at Health and Human Services in Omaha.

Sarah is employed as a marketing coordinator at General Service
Bureau in Omaha.
Scott Hendrickson ’01 married Julie Hahn on July 12 in Westphalia,
Iowa. Scott works for the U.S. Army and is in training to become
a special forces soldier at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Rebecca Dunnell ’00 is a preschool teacher at Affton-Lindbergh
Early Childhood Education Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Susan Hamblen ’00 married Mark Huse in 2001. Susan works
at Empire Insurance Company in Omaha as a customer care specialist.
Jason Mitchell ’00 is the new varsity football coach and
girl’s varsity basketball coach for the Lodgepole (Neb.) Panthers.
He is also be teaching physical education at the school.
Gina (Flood ’00) and Perry Mostek ’00 have moved to
St. Bonifacius, Minn. Gina is working at the Cargill Corporate Center
in Minneapolis, Minn., as a human resources generalist. Perry continues
to work for MidAmerica Computer Corp. in Blair, via telecommuting,
as a programmer analyst.
Anthony Ward ’00 is the director of liturgy and music at
St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Omaha, where he and his wife,
Jennifer (Patience ’99) Ward live.
Tara Zellmer ’00 married Ed Clark on Oct. 4. Tara is working
at West Corporation in Omaha as a benefits coordinator.

Lindsay Bruning ’99 married Craig Paulsen Nov. 1 in Stanton,
Iowa.
Laurie Grasso ’99 and Cory Peatrowsky ’94 were married
on April 25 in Omaha. Laurie works for the Foundation of the Jewish
Federation of Omaha. Cory works for Empire Insurance Companies.
The couple resides in Omaha.
Carrie Eckhoff ’99 married Jason Kohl Sept. 27 in Missouri
Valley, Iowa. Carrie is a business teacher and golf coach at Missouri
Valley High School.
Nikki Kinsey ’99 is co-owner of Sol Chicks Design, LLC, a
company specializing in hand-painted glassware, apparel and hand-crafted
jewelry. The company is web-based and can be found online at www.solchicks.com.
Nikki lives in Lincoln, Neb.
Tiffany Menard ’99 was promoted to research associate at
the Michigan Public Health Institute and also appointed speech writer
for Michigan’s first surgeon general, Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom.
Jaclyn Smith ’99 is the administrative assistant for academic
services at Dana.
Jana (Bentley ’98) and Andy Hensley ’98 had a baby
girl, Ella Jae, on May 22. She weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and was
21 inches long. The Hensleys live in Carson, Iowa.
James “Ryan” Holtam ’98 and his wife, Nicky,
are family teachers for eight boys at Boys Town, Neb.
Jeremy Jones ’98 is a graphic designer for Performance Marketing
in West Des Moines, Iowa, where he also lives.
Taffy (Forsen ’98) Jones and her husband Luke had a daughter,
Lexington, born on May 31. Taffy and Luke also have a 2-year-old
son, Treyton. Taffy teaches kindergarten and Title I reading at
Herman (Neb.) Elementary. The family lives in Blair.
Angie (Sparacino ’98) Sandy placed second in the women’s
division of the Omaha Corporate Cup, Oct. 19. She lives in Omaha.
Michael Hanson ’97 is the band director at Elmwood-Murdock
(Neb.) Schools. He lives in Murdock.
Sarah (Kobs ’97) Kock and her family have moved to Walnut,
Iowa, where Sarah is the K–12 music teacher for Walnut Schools.
Tim Marsden ’97 and Terra Keiser ’96 were married July
12 in Omaha. Tim is the director of choral music at Millard (Neb.)
South High School. Terra is music specialist at Abbot Elementary
in Omaha and teaches as an adjunct faculty member at University
of Nebraska-Omaha.
Julie (Seeba ’97) Reece received her Ph.D. in analytical
chemistry from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Portions of
her doctoral research were published in Oncology Reports and Applied
Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Julie works as a quality specialist/technical
writer at Novartis Consumer Health in Lincoln, Neb.
Leasa (Stark ’96) Brouillard and husband, Duane, welcomed
a new son on May 31. Kade Christian Paul joins his sisters, Payden,
10, and Chloe, 1. The Brouillards live in Chandler, Ariz.
Dustin Wolfe ’96 married Lesley Neumann on July 19 in Omaha.
Dustin is employed in the finance department at Woodhouse Chrysler
in Blair.
Cara Lucas ’95 married Justin Richt on Sept. 26 in Omaha.
Cara is a teacher with the Millard Public Schools and is pursuing
a master’s degree at Doane College in Crete, Neb.
Stacey (Harris ’94) and Michael Maxwell ’93 have moved
to Hutchinson, Kan., where Michael is a sales manager with Lowe’s
Home Improvement Warehouse.
Shelli (Wiebelhaus ’94) Oborny and family have moved to Bennington,
Neb., where Shelli works as a K-2 special education teacher at the
public school. She and her husband, Chuck, have two children, Bailey,
4, and Brayden, 2.
Stephanie Psota ’94 married Brian Edwardson on Sept. 13 in
Hastings, Neb. Stephanie is a licensed practical nurse at Intelistaf
Healthcare in Lincoln, Neb.
Chikako Osawa ’93 married Takeshi Oshima in 2000. The couple
moved to a town near Tokyo, Japan, where Chikako works for an advertising
company as a sales promotion planner and is studying to be a tour
guide for English-speaking visitors.
Bryan Scheer ’93 is providing medical service at the Morrill
County (Neb.) Community Hospital and the Physicians of Scottsbluff
(Neb.) Orthopaedic Associates, P.C.
Andrea (Monaghan ’92) Stogner has moved to Largo, Fla., with
her two children, Liz, 5, and Austin, 2. Andrea is teaching in an
early childhood center and is going back to school for credentials
in early childhood education.
Ginny Ward ’92 married Brent Allumbaugh on Aug. 23 in Shenandoah,
Iowa. Ginny is a media buyer at MediaWorks, Inc. in Omaha.

Karyn (Hillesland ’89) and Larry Overbeck ’89 have
added a fourth child to their family. Sarah Lynn was born Aug. 6,
2002, and joined Rachel, 10; Jacob, 7; and Anna, 4. The Overbecks
live in Omaha.
Allen Cordes ’88 and his wife, Tracy, had a daughter, Elizabeth
Claire, on Sept. 2. The family has moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Robert O’Donahue ’87 is district operations manager
for Gold’s Gym in Treasure Valley, Idaho. He and his wife,
Gayle, have two children, Leslie, 10, and Robyn, 5. They live in
Meridian, Idaho.
Andrea (Nielsen ’86) Fredrickson, partner and vice president
of operations for The American Institute of Management in Council
Bluffs, Iowa, was featured in the July 1 edition of the Council
Bluffs Business Journal. Andrea’s compay works with businesses
to determine the directions they should take. She lives in Honeycreek,
Iowa, with her husband, Tom.
Chere (Fox ’85) O’Reilly served as juror for the 2003
“Celebrate the Hills” Art Show, Sept. 6 in Moorhead,
Iowa. Chere is the art teacher at West Monoma Jr./Sr. High School
in Onawa, Iowa. Chere lives in Turin, Iowa.
Danette Johns ’82 shared the sermon at a Community Labor
Day Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Essex, Iowa.
Danette is an assistant to Bishop Michael Last in the Western Iowa
Synod. She lives in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Morgens Knudsen ’81 and his Sav-A-Lot Discount Foods store
in Lexington, Neb., were featured in a front-page story in the June
29 Omaha World Herald on the increasing Latino population in the
Lexington area. Morgens has added Mexican and Southwest food brands
to his store.

Deb (Jenner ’78) Billington and her family have moved to
Cook, Neb., where her husband, Steven, has been installed as pastor
at Grace Lutheran Church. The Billingtons have two sons, Ian, 19,
and David, 16.
Donald Baack ’75 is the co-author of a new publication, Integrated
Advertising, Promotion, and Marketing Communication (second edition)
from Prentice Hall. Donald is also a new regular feature contributor
for IMC Communique, a trade magazine. He is a professor at Pittsburg
(Kan.) State University and lives in Joplin, Mo.
Norma (Wolf) Potadle ’71 is giving piano lessons in Omaha,
where she lives in an assisted-living complex “and just loves
it,” she writes.
Vicki (Keating ’70) Croft served as one of two U.S. members
on the Scientific Committee for the Fourth International Conference
for Animal Health Information Specialists in Budapest, Hungary,
Aug. 6-9. Vicki was one of the planners for the original conference,
held in 1992. She works in the Health Sciences Library at Washington
State University in Pullman, Wash.
Ruth (Jacobsen ’70) Leitel has been elected to the Good Samaritan
Society’s National Board of Directors. She works for the society
an an interim administrator. Ruth lives in Moorhead, Minn.
60s
Ramona (Hinze ’69) Laubscher served as a missionary in Saratov,
Russia, from July 29–Aug. 9, where she worked in an eyeglass
clinic. This was her second mission to Russia. Two years ago she
went to St. Petersburg. Ramona lives in Denison, Iowa.
Herb Panko ’62 retired several years ago after teaching high
school English in Tyler and Aitkin, Minn., for 35 years. He and
his wife, Judith, live in Chatfield, Minn.

Gladys (Lynge ’45) Hughes was crowned Ms. Mississippi Senior
on July 12 in Gulfport, Miss. For the talent portion, Gladys performed
a comedy monologue. She lives with her husband, Hughie Hughes ’48
in Carriere, Miss.
Charlotte Andersen ’42 has moved to San Diego, Calif., where
she enjoys her retirement.
Deaths
Clara (Zaiger) Klinkefus ’74 died July 25 in Des Moines,
Iowa. Clara taught elementary school in Audubon, Iowa, and at Lewis
Central School District in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was a member
of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, United Methodist
Women and the National Education Association. Survivors include
three sons and three daughters, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren,
a sister and four brothers.
Virgina (Andresen) Ellis ’72 died May 14 in Tekamah, Neb.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah, American
Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors
include two daughters, a son, Bruce Ellis ’75, five grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
Neil Moore ’54 died Aug. 12 in Charleston, Ill. While at
Dana, Neil lettered four years in football and track, received All-American
recognition in track, was the Mid-Western Light-Heavyweight Golden
Gloves champion and was named the 1954 Nebraska State College Athlete
of the Year. He went on to college coaching and was a 12-time Mid-Continent
Coach of the Year and directed 11 teams to the indoor/outdoor Mid-Continent
Conference Championships between 1983 and 1992. He coached two Division
I national champions, five NCAA individual champions and three Olympic
Trials qualifiers. Survivors include his wife, Shirley, two sons,
three grandchildren, two brothers and a sister.
Ruth (Madsen ’40) Mason died July 7 in Peoria, Ariz. Ruth
and her husband, Tom, traveled in their recreational vehicle throughout
the United States and Canada. They took 19 overseas trips, including
two trips around the world. In addition to travel, Ruth was fond
of western art. She is survived by her husband, a son, Larry Mason
’64, two daughters, five granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
Alvin Petersen D ’34 T ’36 died July 8 in Lincoln,
Neb. Alvin was pastor at Lutheran churches in Marcus and Owens,
Iowa, and Lincoln and Davey, Neb. He served in interim ministries
in Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma, and was a campus pastor at the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a science professor at Dana.
He also served on the Dana College Board of Regents from 1944 to
1960. Survivors include a daughter and two grandchildren.
