LANCE POLDBERG
My Interim began with an Independent Study course in the fall,
under the direction of Dr. Richard Jorgensen ’64. I did my
research and study of the Revolutionary War. With this as preparation,
my Interim month began in Omaha at the Greyhound Bus Station, where
I purchased a 30-day pass good for anywhere in the United States
Greyhound traveled.
I headed east, beginning in Massachusetts, in the Boston area,
staying with friends I had known in California. Here I visited the
Freedom Trail, and Lexington and Concord, the birthplace of the
revolution and our independence as a nation.
From there I continued South, and visited many Revolutionary War
sites all the way down to South Carolina. I had a great time visiting
friends I had met along the way in various avenues of my life, including
Dana friends in Philadelphia.
Upon returning to Dana, I wrote a history paper for Dr. Jorgensen
to summarize my travels and studies. I also developed a slide show,
which I have shown to fifth grade students in various situations.
